Hair Transplant Surgery

Hair transplant is a surgical procedure that involves relocating hair follicles from one part of your body, typically the back or sides of your scalp, to the area of hair loss or thinning hair. This surgical process manages baldness or thinning hair by transplanting those areas with your own natural hair.

After the surgery, you will have a fuller, thicker head of hair that enhances your overall appearance and boosts your confidence.

The two main types of modern surgical hair transplant are Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT).

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE): The hair transplant surgeon removes hair follicles one by one directly from the back or sides of the scalp using a tiny punch tool. It leaves tiny, almost invisible dot scars that hair can easily cover. Healing takes about 3 to 7 days, and you can wear your hair very short.

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT): The hair transplant surgeon removes a thin strip of scalp tissue from the back of the head, then dissects it under a microscope into individual grafts. It leaves a fine, linear scar that is usually hidden by surrounding hair worn at least half an inch long.

An FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) hair transplant is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that moves individual hair follicles from a donor area (usually the back or sides of the head) to thinning or bald areas.

The hair transplant surgeon uses a tiny specialized punch tool (usually 0.8 mm to 1 mm wide) to remove hair follicles one by one from the donor site, then makes tiny micro-incisions in the recipient area and carefully places each follicle graft to match your natural hair growth pattern.

• No linear scar: unlike older strip methods (FUT) that leave a long linear scar, FUE leaves only tiny, dot-like marks that are virtually invisible.
• Short-hair friendly: because scarring is minimal and speckled, you can wear your hair very short without showing signs of surgery.
• Natural look: transplanting individual units (1 to 4 hairs each) mimics natural growth patterns.

An FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) hair transplant, also called the strip harvest, is a surgery where the hair transplant surgeon removes a thin strip of scalp from the back of the head to harvest healthy hair follicles for thinning areas.

FUT is a highly advanced surgical procedure known for its ability to transplant a large number of units in a single session, allowing for dramatic yet natural-looking results.

The surgeon cuts a strip of skin and hair (usually 5 to 30 cm long) from the back of the head and, using microscopes, divides the strip into small groups of 1 to 4 hairs, called follicular units. The surgeon then makes tiny holes in the balding areas and places the hair grafts inside. The back of the head is closed with stitches.

A high number of grafts can be placed in a single session, and FUT also minimizes potential complications that can arise from repeated surgeries. However, it leaves a single fine linear scar on the back of the head, which is usually hidden if you keep your hair at least a centimeter long.

Healing: The procedure takes about 4 to 8 hours. Stitches are removed after 10 to 14 days.

Shedding: The transplanted hairs fall out after a few weeks, which is a normal part of the process.

Growth: New hair starts to grow in 3 to 4 months, with full results visible around 9 to 12 months.
